The Service may link to third-party streaming platforms and other sites. Those providers handle information under their own privacy practices once you leave discover.fm or use their integrations.

discover.fm uses YouTube API Services to help curators match tracks and publish playlists on YouTube and YouTube Music when they import or update playlists from other streaming services.

When we call the YouTube Data API, we may receive publicly available information from YouTube search results, including video identifiers, video titles, channel names, and thumbnail image URLs. We use this information only to match songs across platforms and to create or update playlists on YouTube on behalf of curators using our Service. We do not download, re-host, or redistribute YouTube video content.

Your use of discover.fm is also governed by our Terms of Service. Defined terms in the Terms of Service apply to this Privacy Policy unless stated otherwise.

We collect information you provide directly, information generated through your use of the Service, and information from trusted partners where permitted.

Depending on how you use discover.fm, this may include:

• Account details such as name, email address, username, password, and profile information.
• Preferences you set, including curators you follow, saved content, and notification choices.
• Content you publish, such as playlist descriptions, images, notes, and links to third-party listening services.
• Payment and billing information when you purchase paid subscriptions or other paid features (processed by payment providers).
• Communications you send us, including support requests and feedback.
• Device and usage data, such as browser type, IP address, general location derived from IP, pages viewed, and interactions with emails or notifications.
• Information from integrations you choose to connect, such as a streaming account used to register playback preferences.

We use personal information to operate, maintain, and improve the Service, including:

• Creating and securing your account and authenticating sign-in.
• Delivering content you follow, including updates from curators you subscribe to.
• Processing payments and managing subscriptions.
• Tailoring discovery surfaces and understanding how features are used.
• Sending service messages, security alerts, and, where allowed, marketing communications you can opt out of.
• Detecting abuse, fraud, and security incidents.
• Complying with law and enforcing our Terms of Service.

We do not sell your personal information. We may share information in the following circumstances:

• With service providers who help us host the Service, send email, process payments, analyze usage (including PostHog for product analytics, session replay, and error tracking), or provide customer support, subject to contractual confidentiality obligations.
• With curators when you subscribe or follow them, including subscriber details (such as email address, display name, and general location) shown in curator tools and available for download as a CSV export, to the extent needed to deliver their publications and manage that relationship on discover.fm. Curators must use that information only for discover.fm-related communications, must not resell or repurpose subscriber lists for unrelated marketing, and must honor unsubscribe requests.
• When you choose to make content public or interact with other users through Service features.
• To comply with law, regulation, legal process, or governmental request, or to protect the rights, property, and safety of discover.fm, our users, or others.
• In connection with a merger, acquisition, financing, or sale of assets, subject to appropriate confidentiality protections.

We use cookies, local storage, and similar technologies to keep you signed in, remember preferences, measure performance, and understand how the Service is used, including through PostHog and Google Analytics.

You can control cookies through your browser settings. Disabling certain cookies may limit functionality.

We retain personal information for as long as needed to provide the Service, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce agreements.

When you delete your account, we will delete or de-identify much of your information within a reasonable period, except where retention is required for backups, security, fraud prevention, or legal compliance.

We use administrative, technical, and organizational measures designed to protect personal information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
